The Healing of the Centurion's Servant
Through the Gospel Series: Jesus Has Absolute Authority
Today, Calvary Kids learned that Jesus is interested in our faith and has authority over all things. Some have faith as small as a mustard seed and others have the gift of faith that abounds. Whatever our faith may look like, Jesus can do all things in and through us because He is powerful!
Read Luke 7:1-10
In this passage, a Centurion soldier, one who had authority and led over hundreds of men, had a servant who was dear to him that was sick. This man was a Roman citizen, and yet he believed in who Jesus was and sent for Him. As a Roman, gentile citizen, this man knew that even he was not worthy that Jesus should enter his home. But he believed in the authority that Christ had to heal and do miracles and trusted that if He wanted to make his servant well, then He would.
Jesus MARVELED at the faith that this man had! He was not even a Jew, and this centurion man, who usually had authority over the people around him, humbled himself before the authority of Christ!
Do you believe and have faith that Jesus truly does have full authority over your life? God is concerned about your faith too and has the power to do amazing miracles in your life. Sometimes we can get so caught up in all the wrong things going on in our lives and how to fix them and forget that we can come to the feet of Jesus and allow Him to have authority in our lives instead. Just ASK in prayer for that gift of faith today and watch Him work!
Family Discussion:
1. What is Faith?
2. Can Jesus still heal today like He did back then?
3. What kind of things can you be praying for today?
4. Do you know what it means to be humble?
4, Is it hard to believe that Jesus can heal anything?
Memory Verse:
"When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, "I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!"" Luke 7:9
