The Loving God

Read Exodus 17:1-7

The Israelites had been wandering through the desert, going to the land that God had promised them. There was no water and the people were thirsty.  Moses called out to God.

Even though the people complained and doubted, God still loved His people. He would provide for them, and He did!  He instructed Moses to strike the rock and water came pouring out for the people. Everyone had enough to drink and they were no longer thirsty.

God loved the Israelites and He took care of them. God loves us too! We can trust in His provision and depend on Him to take of our needs.

Family Discussion:
1. Why were the people in the desert complaining?
2. Who was the leader of the Israelites?
3. What did God tell Moses to do?
4. What happened when Moses hit the rock with his staff?
5. Imagine what it might have been like for the Israelites in the desert who had no water to drink. Thank God for loving them and taking care of them by providing water from a rock. Thank him for loving and taking care of your family too.
