CALVARY CHAPEL MERIDIAN

Boldness for Christ

This week in Calvary Kids, we see that there were some people (the Sadducees)  who didn’t like that Peter and John healed the man at the gate and were talking about Jesus to the crowd. They seized Peter and John and now we get to see what happened next.

Read Acts 4:1-31

These men that were mad were called Sadducees (a group of religious
leaders). They arrested Peter and John to try to get them to stop talking about Jesus, but Peter was empowered by the Holy Spirit again to be bold (which means to be brave) and speak the truth about Jesus once again.

The Sadducees, who arrested Peter and John, didn’t know what to do because there was a man who actually got healed, meaning a real miracle did take place. The Sadducees instead warned Peter and John not to speak about Jesus again.

After Peter and John left, they continued to speak about Jesus because the Holy Spirit made them even more brave. This lesson is good for us because sometimes people will tell us to not talk about Jesus but you have the power of God’s Spirit to help you speak truth when you need to. God’s Spirit is available whenever! If we need to be encouraged, or
need wisdom, or if we need to feel brave, we have the Holy Spirit in this to help us. All you have to do is pray and He will come to your aid!

Discussion Questions:
1. What is your favorite part about coming to church?

2. What kind of change do you like? What kind of change do you NOT like?

3. Who gave the gift of the Holy Spirit?

4. Have you had a time where you had to be bold?

5. Why can it be scary to share Jesus with others?

Memory Verse:
"And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness."
