Feeding the 5,000
Jesus Makes Possible the Impossible
This week in Calvary Kids, we learned about Jesus feeding 5,000 people with just five barley loaves and two small fish. Not only did he feed this many people on such a small amount, but there were twelve baskets of bread leftover! This truly was a miracle that seemed impossible, but Jesus made it possible!
Read John 6:1-14
This story takes place during Passover when many people would travel to Jerusalem. Jesus at this time after having shown so many miracles, gained a big group of followers and he saw their need for food. Jesus did not only want to feed these people with the Word of God, but he cared for their physical needs as well. Seeing them hungry, he turned what little they had into a feast!
Jesus PRAYED over the 5 loaves of bread and two fish and it multiplied enough to feed every single person! This miracle was so astonishing to the people, that they said, "This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world."
At the same time, Jesus was testing His disciples' faith. He was trying to show His disciples that He will always provide for them even when it seems impossible.
Maybe we sometimes feel like we do not have a lot to offer or we are struggling to come up with what we need in a situation, but all we have to do is place it into God's hands. We can know and trust that God will do amazing things even in the smallest things that we offer or give to Him. All you have to do is ask Jesus to fill up your basket, and stand in awe when He gives more abundantly than you could ever ask for. So place whatever burden you have in His hands today because He has you.
