CALVARY CHAPEL MERIDIAN

Love Your Enemies

Through the Gospel- Love Your Enemies
This week in our Calvary Kids Ministry we continued through the sermon on the mount, exploring what it means to love like Jesus. The majority of people find it diffIcult to love our enemies but Jesus tells us everyone is deserving of love especially our enemies.

Read Matthew 5: 43-48

The world tells us that we should repay evil actions with evil but Jesus taught the exact opposite. For us to follow Jesus we are to love everyone as he loves the world, especially those who do wrong to us. As Jesus calls us to be a light in the world we are supposed to set ourselves apart from the negativity of humanity, "blessing those who curse us, do good for those who hate us, and pray for those who persecute us." Speaking on love Jesus taught with stories and parables so we set out a few examples for the kids about scenarios of showing unconditional love to those who wrong us. This is because true love and happiness in life is found in Jesus.

Family Discussion
  • What does it mean to love like Jesus? (Love everyone, including our enemies)
  • What should you do if someone is mean to you? (Cover them in kindness and love)
  • How can we see someone as Jesus sees them? ( Jesus died for everyone, even those who can be mean. So we can see them how Jesus saw them with love.)
  • Why should we pray for others? ( Jesus said to pray for your enemies this way God can work in their lives and maybe heal their hearts)

Memory Verse-
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who persecute you.
