Mary and Martha
This week in Calvary Kids, to celebrate Mother's Day, the children learned that they can show love to their moms by helping them and praying for them.
Read Luke 10:38-42
Martha who was very conscientious of how her house looked. She had good reason to want everything to be perfect too. She was expecting Jesus! She wanted the house to look nice, and dinner to be perfect. Martha wanted her sister to help her prepare, but her sister chose to drop everything and just be with Jesus the second he walked in the door! Martha was a little frustrated, but Jesus taught Martha - and Mary - a very important lesson.
Jesus’ lesson is that one thing is more important than all other things: time with him! Jesus wants us to put him first. He wants us to spend the first part of our day with him. He wants us to give him our best.
Moms, just like us, need time to spend with Jesus. In class, we talked about ways we can help our moms have time to spend with Jesus. We can help them with chores around the house and respect their quiet time when they are praying and reading the bible.

Family Discussion
- Do you have a daily time when you can pray?
- Moms need time to pray and be with Jesus? Can you think of a way we can help them do that? (for example: helping them around the house, respecting their quiet time)
- What can you do differently this week to spend more time with God and help mom?
