Jesus Tempted
God's Word in Our Hearts Keep us from Sinning
Read Matthew 4:1-11
Like a beautifully wrapped package with something worthless inside, Satan offers us things that appear beautiful and worthwhile, all the while lying and deceiving us. These tempatations turn out to be unfulfilling or even harmful.
Jesus was also tempted by Satan. Satan came to Him and tempted Him with three different temptations. God inspired Matthew to write about Jesus’ temptations in order to teach us what to do when we are tempted through Jesus’ example.
Each time Jesus was tempted, He used scripture to defend Himself against Satan. Jesus showed us how to resist the devil by hiding God's Word in our hearts. We must learn and memorize the Word of God so we can stand strong on the Word of God when Satan attacks. As we pray, trust in God, and read God’s word He will prove Himself faithful.
Do you think God is surprised when we are tempted? No! He knows everything that we are facing. The Holy Spirit who lives in us is more powerful than any temptation we will face. He will help us say ‘no’ when we are tempted.
