The Healing at the Pool

Read John 5:1-9

In Jerusalem, there was a man who could not walk. For 38 years, he sat by the pool of Bethesda. He thought the pool might have special powers to make him better.

One day Jesus saw the man. He asked the man, “Do you want to be well?” The man said, “Yes. But there is no one to take me into the pool, so I can get better.” That was the only way the man thought he could be healed.

But Jesus knew better. Jesus could heal him. Jesus can fix anything in ways we can’t even think of. Jesus told the man, “Get up. Pick up your mat and walk.” Immediately, the man was healed. He stood up, picked up his mat, and walked.

Sometimes, we think we know the best way. But there are people who know better than us. Our parents know when we should go to bed. Our teachers know the things we need to learn. Jesus knows what we need. He can fix our problems. Not always in the way we think he should, but Jesus knows best. Jesus can fix things in ways that we don't even think of. We can trust in Him.
